Vzw De Kade, Klavervier (Oostkamp)

Within the healthcare umbrella organisation Vzw De Kade, the Spermalie Care Centre has residential projects for people with multiple sensory limitations, i.e. a hearing or seeing limitation in combination with a mental disability. 24 enthusiastic residents, who live together in 3 communities, recently took up residence in the new building Klavervier. In full technological comfort for residents and assistants, thanks to 25-8.

Liselotte Peirsegaele, Care Coordinator of vzw De Kade (Oostkamp site): "At the end of 2016 we actively got down to work with our construction plans of Klavervier and we were looking for a (telecom) company that could answer our central question: how can technology support the work of assistants and increase the living comfort of the residents? And very important for me was: how do we make sure that it remains user-friendly?”

Technological support for residents and assistants!

In all three of the communities of residential project Klavervier the assistants rely every day on the technology installed by 25-8. First of all, we linked the telephony and alerting system to our LynX® connect. But the alarm server is also connected with the intelligent door control. In this way we can always assign a status to the door. Thus, for example, the resident can always leave his own room, but no fellow resident can enter. That gives a great deal of security to the resident of that room.

Moreover, with LynX® lifeline, Vzw De Kade opted for intelligent LED lighting in the hallways and the rooms of the residents, as a result of which the already anticipated investment in lighting can be used more broadly. The lighting also functions as a semaphore and emergency lighting. Moreover, during an evacuation or aggression, it can show the way to the emergency exit or straight to the persons involved. Liselotte Peirsegaele: “Our residents are deaf, so if you want to enter their room, you can´t knock. They won´t hear you. Now you press the bell and a blue light goes on inside the room and the residents know: there´s someone at my door."

The Spermalie Care Centre has residential projects for people with a visual limitation, those who are deaf or hard of hearing (with an additional limitation) and for those who are both deaf and blind: ´t Wit Huis in Loppem and Klavervier, De Vlier and Ginkgo in Oostkamp. In addition, the centre offers studio flats in Azalea (Oostkamp) and Francesco (Knokke). A mobile team supports the deaf and hard-of-hearing in West Flanders.

In a nutshell:

  • LynX® connect: alarm server with integration of smartphones for assistants
  • LynX® connect: intelligent door control
  • LynX® lifeline: room lighting for the deaf and hard-of-hearing
  • LynX® lifeline: hallway lighting with semaphore
  • Service 24/7, or better: 25/8

You can tailor LynX® to match the customer´s wishes. The alarm server receives signals from several sources and in turn sends them on, as necessary, to the devices used by the assistant.

Bjorn De Gloire, CTO 25-8

We ended up choosing you because we saw that we didn´t have to make any compromises. From you we could get everything we wanted in the design.
